Hamza stuns Manosh in final

Mufradul Khayer Hamza became the new champion in men’s table tennis singles of the Federation Cup table tennis tounament after beating Manosh Chowdhury in an exciting final at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium yesterday.

Hamza came from behind to beat former champion Manosh in 4-3 sets.  Manosh had taken the lead by winning the first two sets 11-9, 11-3 but Hamza bounced back to win the next three sets 11-9, 12-10 and 11-9. In the sixth set, Monosh beat Hamza 11-7 to level the tie but the final set went in favour of Hamza, who beat the experienced player 12-10.

In women’s singles, Sonom Sultana Soma beat Nowrin Sultana Mahi in 4-2 sets to be crowned champion.
