Police's walk-out gives Ansar title

Bangladesh Ansar and VDP were declared champions in Exim Bank 30th National Men's Handball Championship after opponent Bangladesh Police left the ground following a decision by the referee in the final match at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium yesterday.

The match was tied 22-22 points 10 minutes into the second half and the referee suspended one of Police players for two minutes but Police did not accept the decision and left the field. The referee later waited for 15 minutes and declared Ansar and VDP winners.

In the place deciding match, Chapainawabganj beat Kushtia 35-33 to finish third after leading the first half 17-13.      

Rabiul Islam of Ansar was adjudged the best player of the championship while Imu of Chapainawabganj was named the best goalkeeper in the tournament.
