Archery team bow out in quarters

Bangladesh were yesterday eliminated from the quarterfinals of recurve junior men’s team event in World Archery Youth Championship despite overcoming their superior neighbours India.

The Bangladesh team, comprising Sakib Molla, Tamimul Islam and Abdul Hakib Rubel, entered the quarterfinals after beating India in the second-round tiebreaker. The team started on a losing note before coming back to win two successive sets.

India bounced back to level things at 4-4 set points by winning the fourth and final set as the match entered tiebreak where Bangladesh won by virtue of better 10-shoot despite scoring identical 26-26 points.

In the quarterfinals, Bangladesh however could not provide any resistance against top-ranked South Korea, losing by 6-0 set points.
