Archery camp starts today

Bangladesh is all set to host international archery training for the first time ever at the Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi with 35 archers from 10 countries taking part in the five-day camp starting today.

The programme, which will run till November 9, also includes 10 coaches from seven countries with Bangladesh's German coach Martin Fredrick playing a key role in the training camp.

The initiative was launched by the World Archery Asia (WAA) organisation in association with Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) to share experience among Asian archers and hone their skills.

“This joint training initiative is one of WAA's development programs as we are interested in developing Asian archers, so that they can compete at international levels well after honing their skills from such training,” said WAA general secretary Professor Um Sung Ho at a press briefing at the BOA auditorium yesterday.
