Pranav Dhanawade scores 1000 runs off 323 balls

Pranav Dhanawade, a lanky Mumbai lad became the first batsman to score 1000 runs in a single innings during an inter-school tournament today.

The brilliant feat was accomplished against Arya Gurukul School in the HT Bhandari Cup inter-school tournament organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association, reports Indian Express.

Batting for Smt KC Gandhi School, the opening batsman resumed the day from his overnight score of 652 runs and crossed the 1000-run mark after Lunch.

His school declared the innings at 1465/3 with Parnav unbeaten at 1009 which he scored of 323 balls and at a strike-rate of 312.38. He played for a total of 395 minutes.

Pranav’s innings was punctuated by 59 sixes and 129 fours. All the figures are a world record in competitive cricket.

After Pranav’s runs on Monday, Maharashtra government announced that it will bear coaching and education expenses of the Mumbai U-16 cricketer.

The 15-year-old’s father Prashant is an autorickshaw driver and says his dream will come true if his son plays for the Mumbai Under-16 team.

He bettered the best-ever individual score made on a single day when he went past Prithvi Shaw’s 546, made in 2014 in the Harris Shield tournament. Two other cricketers with promise have also scored big runs in Mumbai maidan cricket. Sarfaraz Khan and Arman Jaffer – both part of India’s current Under-19 squad, made 439 in 2009 and 498 in 2010.
