Bangladesh's bid to play in the final of the 2nd Junior World Kabaddi Championship got to a winning start as the boys in red and green handed a massive 69-43 points defeat to Thailand in Group C opener in Urmia, Iran on Tuesday.

Bangladesh, who won a bronze medal in the inaugural edition held in 2019, were drawn in Group C alongside India and Thailand, according to a press release from Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation.

India were scheduled to play against Thailand last night and a win for India will help both India and Bangladesh through to the last eight even before they face each other on Wednesday.

Though 16 nations were supposed to take part in the championship, 12 nations turned up in the competition and the participating nations were drawn in four groups with three teams each. Top two teams from each group are scheduled to advance to the quarterfinals.
