Bangladeshi FM Mehdi Hasan Parag defeated Azerbaijani GM Azer Mirzoev in the sixth round of the Paytakht Cup International Chess Festival in Tehran.

IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman defeated Indian IM Himal Gusain in his encounter to take a share of third place alongside five others after securing four and a half points.

Parag is only half-a-point behind.
