Make or break for Tigers

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to go all out in their second and last group fixture at the Dubai International Stadium in the Asia Cup tonight.

The last Group B game has turned into a virtual knockout contest as the winner will progress to the Super Four behind Afghanistan, who defeated Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in comprehensive fashion earlier.

The match will commence from 8pm [Bangladesh Standard Time].

Bangladesh had put up an overall sloppy performance, especially on the batting front (127 for 7 against Afghanistan), in their tournament's opener, where they suffered a seven-wicket loss against Afghanistan. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan would thus want his players to apply themselves in this do-or-die contest.

Shakib bowled decently in the last game but he will need good support from others, especially from Mustafizur Rahman who would be looking to return to his best. The likes of Mohammad Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed would be needed to showcase control of line and length as well.

The Sri Lanka team has had a poor run in this format and the side has won only twice in the last 10 games they played. The Lankan batters were is in shambles against Afghanistan and they would be eager to turn things around and pile up big score on the board, if given the chance to bat first.

With stakes elevated, it is expected to be a close contest, which will be decided by whoever manage to hold onto nerves better.
