Jimmy keeps MSC rolling

Rasel Mahmud Jimmy's sixth hattrick of the campaign propelled Mohammedan Sporting Club to a 3-0 victory against Bangladesh Sporting Club in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium yesterday.

The national team captain scored all three goals in the first half as the Black and Whites kept their hundred per cent record in the competition, with 11 wins in 11 matches.

The Motijheel-based outfit lead defending champions Mariner Young's Club and title-contenders Abahani by six points, with the latter teams having played 10 games each.

Jimmy started the onslaught in the 10th minute, converting Mohammedan's first attack as he turned in Gurjinder Singh's push.

The veteran forward doubled the lead six minutes later as he ran down the right flank and beat two defenders before slotting home with a reverse-hit.

Jimmy completed his hattrick two minutes later with another excellent goal as the Black and Whites took a comfortable lead. He was taken off in the second half, resulting in a slowing of the attacks from Mohammedan, who held on to the three-goal advantage to complete yet another comfortable win.

Meanwhile, Ajax Sporting Club edged Shadharan Bima 5-3 in the day's first match, thanks to a brace from Indian recruit Laxminder Singh.
