Injured Tamim to fly back

Will miss at least three BPL games

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will fly back to Bangladesh today from the team's tour of South Africa as a scan at East London today showed no improvement of the left thigh muscle tear he had sustained on the very first day of competition on tour a month ago on September 21 during the first day of the three-day tour game in Benoni.

He will be out for four weeks.

Tamim was uncertain for the first Test, but played anyway at Potchefstroom from August 28 and duly aggravated the injury during fielding. That led to him missing the second Test in Bloemfontein from October 6 after a specialist had prescribed four weeks' rest and gave him an outside chance of being fit for the first ODI. Tamim missed the first ODI upon physio Thihan Chandramohan's advice, but played the second game, and it was learnt that that aggravated the injury as the pain increased after the match in Paarl on Wednesday.

Judging by the timeline, Tamim will also miss at least the first three matches for Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League, which will start on November 4.
