Tamim Iqbal became the highest run-getter for Bangladesh during the fourth day of the Test match against India at Fatullah stadium today.

The southpaw from Chittagong surpassed Habibul Bashar's record of 3026 runs after playing 40 matches in his career, ten less than the former Bangladesh captain.

Tamim has scored 3039 runs in 40 Test matches with an average of 39.46.

He has the most hundreds (7) for Bangladesh in the longest format of the game.

The highest score for Bangladesh also belongs to the dashing left-handed opener. Tamim smashed 206 runs from 278 balls against Pakistan at Khulna on April 28, 2015.
