Siddikur glad to be back in the middle

Bangladesh's premier golfer Siddikur Rahman returned to golf course today, after being away from the game for more than six months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 35-year-old golfer last played in the first week of March this year in the Malaysia Open before the pandemic cut both his and Asian Tour's seasons short. 

Since then the two-time Asian Tour winner had been yearning to return to the course in some form or another, but had to do away with the ambition as the pandemic kept the golfing facilities shut across the country.

But finally, upon request to authorities and on being tested negative for Covid-19, the ace golfer got to train at the Savar Golf Club today. 

While his home course, the Kurmitola Golf Club, is still off-limits to golfers and members to ensure safety and security, the champion golfer was satisfied at being back swinging with the club.

"I was eagerly waiting for this return. Glad to be back in the middle finally," Siddikur told media after the practice session.

"There was a bit of discomfort since it was the first day after so long. But it will go away. I had trained at home and maintained fitness, which helped me during this time," Siddikur said. 

With the Asian Tour season all but cancelled, Siddikur is looking to continue training so that he can get back to form when the scourge of coronavirus departs and golf courses open up for competitions.
