Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane posted an emotional message on Instagram yesterday in regards to Sergio Ramos will leave Madrid this summer.

"Legend," the Frenchman wrote. "It was a great pleasure and honour to have you as a teammate and a player. A great captain in our history. Thanks so much for everything."

Ramos, who made 671 appearances for Real and scored 101 goals including netting in two Champions League finals, ran down his contract with the 13-times European champions and was unable to agree a new deal with the club.

Together, Zidane and Ramos experienced incredible success, winning three Champions League titles and two La Liga titles. Both have uncertain but exciting futures; Zidane is without a club having left the Santiago Bernabeu, and has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and France.

Paris St Germain could be a good fit for Ramos given the club's resources and the French side could certainly do with the personality of the four-time Champions League winner to help them finally get their hands on club football's holy grail.

Manchester United and Manchester City are two of the few Premier League clubs that could afford his high salary.

City, however, are well equipped in central defence and the Spaniard might also struggle in a high defensive line favoured by coach Pep Guardiola.

Ramos held talks with United in 2015 before eventually opting to stay at Real. While his salary demands remain the same, he is now six years older and there are increased questions about his fitness.
