Zidane's amazing gesture towards Modric

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane showed what a good man manager he is during the La Liga match against Real Betis on Saturday.

The Frenchman was replacing an injured Toni Kroos with Luka Modric when the Croatian midfielder stooped and performed a lengthy pre-match ritual.

Zidane patiently waited for Modric to finish his ritual of kissing his shin pads before giving out instructions to the 35-year-old.

With his side trailing 2-1 at that point, these sort of delays could potentially lead managers to throw a tantrum at the touchline or at least have a stern word with the player. 

But Zidane is different. The Frenchman understands how important the pre-match rituals are to his players, so he talked to the midfielder patiently and gave Modric a gentle pat on the head to reassure the him.

Modric's shin guards have a picture of his wife and children on them and the midfielder always kisses them before coming on the pitch - without exemption.
