Will Ronaldo be available for Juve-Barca clash?

Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is in a race against the clock to be back for Barcelona, having missed out on one Champions League match already.

The Old Lady beat Dynamo Kiev 2-0 in Ukraine without Ronaldo in the squad, as the Portuguese star tested positive for coronavirus whilst on international duty.

Il Corriere dello Sport reveals it is not impossible to have Ronaldo available for the match against Lionel Messi and Barcelona in the next round of the prestigious competition, but stresses that Ronaldo faces a race against the clock.

All he can do is wait for the negative result and tomorrow could be decisive due to the protocol in the Champions League. The UEFA protocol says that a player positive for coronavirus must have recovered or tested negative for coronavirus at least one week before the match in question.

UEFA Protocol Advisory Panel must have the documents in good time to analyse and approve and today's test results could therefore be decisive to understand if Ronaldo can play against Barcelona or not.

The newspaper reveals that, due to the differences in the Serie A protocol, Ronaldo could, in theory, be allowed back in action against Hellas Verona this weekend, but not for the match against the Blaugrana in the Champions League.

But the report stressed that it's highly unlikely and almost impossible for a player to test negative two days after having registered a 'viral load' of such an extent that it's rejected by UPAP.
