Bangladesh skipper Jamal Bhuiyan, who is currently in Doha, Qatar, tested positive for coronavirus.

The midfielder showed slight temperature when the team left for Dhaka on December 5 after their World Cup qualifying match against Qatar the previous day -- a game that Bangladesh lost 0-5.

"Jamal had a slight temperature when the team left for Dhaka from Doha. He stayed back and subsequently tested positive for coronavirus. He is now under observation of Qatar FA and is in isolation at a hotel," informed Abu Nayeem Shohag, the general secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

Jamal, who signed for Kolkata Mohammedan, was supposed to go to India for the upcoming I League, scheduled to begin from January 9 next year.
