‘I am a warrior who will fight through this’

National football team's veteran centre-back Tapu Barman underwent successful ACL surgery in a Mumbai hospital today for a knee injury he suffered during the Independence Cup in December last year.

Tapu posted on his Facebook page informing about his health, mentioning that he is looking forward to fighting through rehab.

"I am a warrior who will fight through this," Tapu wrote on his Facebook post. "ACL surgery done successfully by the experienced doctors at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai," he added.

The Bashundhara Kings skipper also thanked his club for their support during his hardship and asked for prayers for his recovery.

"Thanks to my club Bashundhara Kings for staying beside me in this hard period. Thanks for all the prayers and love guys. Now I will need those more. Keep praying for me," Tapu concluded.

Tapu is expected to be ruled out for the rest of the season for Bashundhara Kings, according to doctors in India who saw his reports.

Abu Sufian Sharker, physio of Kings, is accompanying the defender in Mumbai.

Tapu's studs got stuck on the turf of the Kamalapur venue as he hurt a ligament in his left knee during a game against Bangladesh Police FC in the Independence Cup last year.
