Booters to fly to Nepal on Nov 27

Bangladesh football team are expected to fly to Nepal on November 27 to take part in the South Asian Games, which is scheduled to take place from December 1 to 10.

The Bangladesh team will play their first match against hosts Nepal on December 1 before taking on Bhutan in their second and final group match two days later.

The team, depending on the availability of air tickets for November 27, will have three days to prepare themselves in Nepal for the regional event where six South Asian nations are participating.

The team were expected to start their training camp on November 21, but after Bashundhara Kings refused to release their eight players, the camp was suspended.

“We talked with Bashundhara Kings officials today. They have agreed to release their players on November 26 after their practice match on the same day. We are hoping to send the team to Nepal on November 27, subject to the availability of air tickets,” Abu Nayeem Shohag told The Daily Star yesterday.

Coach Jamie Day, who is currently in England, is expected to join the team on November 28.
