Having formed an investigation committee on April 17 to look further into former Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag's financial irregularities revealed by FIFA, the federation instructed the committee to place their report within the next 30 days.

However, the investigation committee comprising 10 members haven't managed the time in the last 10 days to meet regarding the matter and to further complicate the situation, two vice presidents - Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan and Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi - pulled themselves out of the committee citing personal reasons.

The investigation committee's head, vice president Kazi Nabil Ahmed said that the committee can't sit to discuss proceedings before May 2 when the BFF executive committee meeting would be held.

"I recently returned home and came to know about the [investigation] committee in which I was made the convener. Two members have already withdrawn themselves from the committee. I talked to the BFF president [Kazi Salahuddin] today and the day before. The BFF executive committee meeting will be held within three to four days. The Eid vacation is still going on and two more members are outside the country. So, we want to discuss details about the matter in the EC meeting on May 2 before the investigation committee sits," Kazi Nabil Ahmed told The Daily Star on Thursday.

"It doesn't depend on me, rather the executive committee will decide whether two members will be replaced or the existing members will carry out the matter," he added.

Though Manik pulled out of the committee on personal grounds, it has been learnt that he proposed in the last BFF executive committee meeting to terminate all BFF employees, who were summoned by FIFA last February in a bid to clean the irregularities but the meeting did not pay heed to his opinion, while Mohi, before the 2020 BFF elections, raised his voice against the financial irregularities after studying the BFF audit report by an audit firm but his claims too were ignored during the BFF congress and election 2020.
