Bangladesh lose 2-3 to Kyrgyzstan Under-23  

Bangladesh football team wrapped up their Kyrgyzstan tour on a losing note as the men in Red and Green squandered a lead to suffer a 2-3 defeat to Kyrgyzstan U-23 side at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek last night.

And with the latest defeat, Bangladesh had lost all their games on tour which included ones against higher-ranked Palestine and Kyrgyzstan senior side. All in all, the booters conceded nine goals and struck no more than three, courtesy of a brace from promising prospect Suman Reza in yesterday's encounter.

Head coach Jamie Day had tested some new players and a new playing style ahead of October's SAFF Championship in Maldives, however the campaign overall was quite a disappointing one, especially after losing big against Kyrgyzstan sides.

"We knew the first two games were going to be tough against Palestine and Kyrgyzstan. And then today we fielded a side who didn't play [against Palestine and Kyrgyzstan] to see if we got players that are on the fringe of the squad ready to step into the first team. Some did okay and some left question marks," said Day after match.  

Despite looking tired, Bangladesh, who beat Kyrgyzstan U-23 side 1-0 back in March in Nepal, played comparatively well against the Olympics squad and even managed to take the lead initially but fumble from debutant goalkeeper Mitul Marma spoiled the party.

Suman Reza raced to the top of opponent's box before unleashing a powerful left-footer past goalkeeper Priadkin Artem to give Bangladesh a lead on the 11th minute. However, the margin levelled within 13 minutes as Zhanbek Uulu Amanzhan's shot bounced in front of the 17-year-old Bangladeshi goalkeeper and went over his head to enter the net.

And four minutes later, the home side took the lead through a strike from Borubaev Gulzhigit while Alygulov Maksat made it 3-1 in the 58th minute.

Suman Reza again found the back of the net in 64th minute but Bangladesh could not avert the defeat eventually.

"We took a lead with a great goal but then we let two silly goals after that, so that's disappointing. I'm disappointed with the fact that we conceded three goals," a frustrated Day added.
