FIFA referee Munir Hossain passes away

Retired FIFA referee and former general secretary of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation, Munir Hossain, breathed his last in Dhaka this morning. He was 80 years old.

After his football career was cut short due to an injury, Munir Hossain became a professional referee in 1960 before becoming a FIFA referee in the ‘70s. He officiated in a number of international tournaments and matches in Asia before ending his referring career in early ‘80s.

Then he became associated with kabaddi and became Kabaddi federation’s general secretary in 1988. He was the technical committee chairman of Asian Kabaddi Federation from 1988 to 2004.

He will be laid to rest after Asr prayers in Gopibagh.
