Duisburg's goalkeeper gets thirsty and concedes stunning goal

Thirst gets the better of German second division side Duisburg’s goalkeeper Mark Flekken as he goes from hero to zero in a matter of seven minutes.

The 24-year old Dutchman had stopped a 11th minute penalty from Ingolstadt, but was guilty of conceding a goal that would top the list of football bloopers this year.

In fact the goal was so hilarious that one could actually compare it to a glitch in a video game.  In the 18th minute, with Duisberg leading 1-0, Ingolstadt had worked the ball forward starting from their goalkeeper before sending a somewhat dangerous aerial ball into the Duisberg penalty box.

Ingolstadt forward Stefan Kutschke gave chase but Duisburg defender Gerrit Nauber comfortably headed it back to his goalkeeper. There was however one problem -- Flekken was nowhere to be seen.

Kutscheke tapped into an open net but where was the goalkeeper? Flekken appeared to be a bit too thirsty and had completely turned his back away from the action as he went for a drink -- inside his goal line. The 24-year old keeper was unaware of what was happening as he bent to pick up the water bottle. The ball had already crossed the goal line as Flekken watched in disbelief.

Luckily for Flekken, his side scored again to win the game and his mistake did not cost his team any points. “The next games, I do not put my drinking bottle in the goal," the goalkeeper remarked after the game.
