Feni, Baridhara appeal for non-relegation

Feni Soccer Club and Uttar Baridhara Club yesterday urged the president of the Bangladesh Football Federation not to relegate them from the top-tier professional league, a day after the two sides finished bottom of the league table with 18 points each from 22 outings.

According to the league bylaws, if there are more than one team at the top and bottom positions of the league table, then the positions will be decided by play-off matches among them. As per this law, Feni Soccer and Uttar Baridhara are supposed to take part in a double-legged play-off to decide who will be relegated to the second tier.

“The two clubs are supposed to play a double-legged playoff as per the bylaws. We are yet to fix the dates of the matches as the two clubs wrote to the BFF president today [Sunday] requesting him to give them an opportunity to stay at the top-tier league. We will take a decision tomorrow after discussing the matter with the president,” said BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag.
