District phase concludes

Sonia Akter, Sadika Afrin, Mohammad Razib and Rabiul Islam shone on the concluding day of the district phase in the first Bangladesh Youth Games after clinching three gold medals each in different districts yesterday.

Sonia of Naogaon under Sadar Upazila hogged the limelight after bagging gold medals in girl's 100m and 200m sprint. She also became champion in long jump. Mohammad Jakaria shone in boy's 100m and 200m sprint to win double gold medals.

In Bhola, Razib from Doulatkhan upazila won gold medals in boy's 100m sprint, 200m sprint and 400m run while Sadika followed the footsteps of Razib to win gold medals in girl's 100m and 200m sprint. Sadika also grabbed gold in long jump.

Rabiul Islam from Sadar Upazila of Chuadanga won three gold medals in 100m sprint, 200m sprint and 400m while Shamsunnahar bagged gold medals in 100m sprint and 400m run.

Only Jessore, Rajshahi and Khulna could not complete their games, and expect to wrap by December 27.

The divisional phase of the Games will be held from January 6 to 16 at the headquarters of eight divisions.
