South Africa quick Wayne Parnell is undergoing tests on his heart after suffering a scare during a domestic one-day game in England, reports cricket.com.au

Playing in the United Kingdom as the overseas player for county side Kent, Parnell left the field during the 50-over match against Somerset at Taunton on Tuesday after experiencing chest tightness and an abnormally fast pulse, according to The Times.

"Wayne left the field during Tuesday's match at Taunton, as he was feeling unwell,” a Kent spokersperson told SuperSport.

β€œHe wanted to return to the field after examination by the club's medical staff, but did not as a precaution.

"In consultation with doctors at Cricket South Africa, Wayne will receive further check-ups.”

Parnell had earlier struck 11 off five balls and taken 1-25 opening the bowling.

He has a history of heart-related issues, spending two nights in hospital after leaving the field in a similar incident playing for South Africa A against India A in 2013, and was found to have an irregular heartbeat.
