The Bangladesh cricket team departed for Hyderabad at noon today to take part in the one-off Test against India.

The Test, starting from February 9 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in the southern Indian city, will mark the first time that India host Bangladesh for a Test. There will be a two-day warm-up game between Bangladesh and India A on February 5 and 6, also in Hyderabad.

The Bangladesh team departed Dhaka from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12:15pm on a flight to Kolkata, where they boarded a flight to Hyderabad.

Although they were Bangladesh’s opponents in the country’s inaugural Test at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in November 2000, India remain the only Test-playing nation never to host Bangladesh for a Test in the latter’s 16-plus years as a Test nation.

India have toured Bangladesh for Test series of varying lengths on five occasions, and have won six of the eight Tests between the nations while the other two were drawn.
