Thirimanne hits ton in rainy draw

After the first two days of the second four-day game were washed out, Lahiru Thirimanne made the most of an academic last day for Sri Lanka A by striking his second consecutive hundred of the series against Bangladesh A.

The game expectedly ended in a draw yesterday after washouts in the first two days were followed by just 15 overs of play on Thursday's third day at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

He remained unbeaten on 100 off 186 balls with six fours and two sixes as Sri Lanka A declared the first innings on 281 for five. In reply Bangladesh A lost the wicket of Anamul Haque (17) to post 59 for one, with Soumya Sarkar unbeaten on 30 at the end.

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who has recovered from injury, is expected to take the field in the third and final four-day game from July 10 in Sylhet.
