The other foreign teams

Karachi Electric FC

10 years after being promoted to the top tier in 2005, Karachi Electric FC won its maiden Pakistan Premier League title last year. They have also made history by becoming the first Pakistani club to qualify for the AFC Cup play-offs. British-born-Pakistani coach Majid Shafiq was the architect behind the club's recent success of the club, which features three Pakistani national team players and two players from Nigeria.“We had success in the AFC Cup [playoffs] Qualifiers in Bhutan and we have set a lot of targets, one of which is winning the championship here,” said Shafiq.

De Spin Ghar Bazan

Thanks to the inclusion of Europe-based players, Afghanistan are the current champions of SAFF region. The De Sprin Gher Bazan FC, which is taking part in this tournament in Chittagong, features six players of the national team.
“Before coming here we have played four practice matches. We are hoping to produce some good results because it is our first international tournament in South Asia. I think we have the capacity to become champions,” said Bazan FC coach Waheedullah.

Solid SC

Solid SC emerged champions in the Sri Lankan league this year after being promoted to the top flight in 2012 and they have set their initial target of qualifying for the semifinals.
“It is our first international tournament and we will be trying to show our true colour in the tournament by putting our best performance. I think we achieve something good over here,” said Solid SC coach MRM Jusmin, adding that his squad includes five national players and three Nigerian booters.

Kolkata MSC

Kolkata Mohammedan, established in 1891, is one of the oldest football clubs in the sub-continent. Even though the club enjoyed very little success in recent years, their triumph in the 2014 IFA Shield followed by success in the Durand Cup is expected to inject a lot of motivation to the current crop. Coach Subrata Bhattacharya believes his charges would not disappoint the supporters back home as they are determined to keep the pride of Kolkata Mohammedan. The team boasts five players of India U-23 team, said the coach.
