Bangladesh national women's team captain Rumana Ahmed is scheduled to leave for Australia tonight to take part in the Women' Big Bash T20 league.

Rumana and off-spinner Khadija Tul Kubra were selected by separate franchises to ply their trade in the tournament, which already began on December 9, for the first time.

Rumana, who will feature for Brisbane Heat, informed that her main aim is to perform well whenever given the opportunity.

“It's a huge opportunity for me to showcase the talent of the Bangladesh women's cricket team. I will try to give my best whenever I get the opportunity and I will try to perform my best,” an excited Rumana told the Day Star yesterday.

The only other Bangladeshi cricketer, Kubra, was picked up by Melbourne Stars and is expected to travel to Australia on January 16.

Shakib Al Hasan was the only Bangladeshi cricketer to have previously taken part in the Big Bash T20 league before these two came to the fore.
