REVISITING A CENTURY OF WINS

Win #1 v Kenya, May 17 1998:

Bangladesh's journey to a hundred wins began with a single step some 18 years ago in Hyderabad as the Tigers defeated Kenya by 6 wickets for their first ODI win.

Win #3 v Pakistan, May 31 1999: 

Akram Khan's 42 and Shahriar Hossain's 39 powered Bangladesh before Khaled Mahmud's 3 wickets led the Tigers to a their second World Cup win, after they had earlier defeated Scotland in the same event.

Win #6 v India, Dec 26, 2004:

Aftab Ahmed hit 64 and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza made a late cameo for an unbeaten 31, before the latter claimed 2 wickets as the Tigers defeated India for the first time in their cricket history.

Win #10 v Australia, Jun 18, 2005:

Bangladesh's first and only win against Australia was scripted by a Mohammad Ashraful masterclass. The batsman scored a ton and Habibul Bashar contributed 47. Aftab Ahmed brought Bangladesh level with a six and then sealed a historic five-wicket win.

WIN #34 V INDIA, MAR 17, 2007:  

In this match against India, Bangladesh's new generation -- consisting of Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim -- showed what they were capable of as each of them notched half-centuries. The win also helped Bangladesh qualify for the second round of the World Cup for the first time.



WIN #36 V SOUTH AFRICA, APRIL 7, 2007:

Just two games after their win over India, the new generation faltered with the bat, but it was Mohammad Ashraful, who made 87, whose innings led to Bangladesh's first win against South Africa and, more importantly, showed that their qualification was no fluke.

Win #61 v New Zealand, Oct 17, 2010: 

It seemed that Bangladesh had finally turned a corner as they defeated the Kiwis by 3 runs to claim their first whitewash over a top team in a 5-0 series win.

WIN #88

Win #88 v England, Mar 9, 2015:

The most recent and perhaps the most defining win was Bangladesh's win over England in the 2015 World Cup. Showing off the brand of cricket for which they have now become famous, Mashrafe's men, powered by Mahmudullah Riyad's ton and Rubel four-for clinched a 15-run win and a spot in the quarterfinals.
