PERFORMER OF THE DAY: AIDEN MARKRAM

Aiden Markram almost made his Test debut for South Africa a memorable one but was denied his maiden century against Bangladesh, consequently becoming the 30th batsman to get out in the nervous nineties, on the opening day of the first Test in Potchefstroom. The right-hander started brilliantly after Tigers skipper Mushfiqur Rahim surprisingly elected to field. Markram looked compact and displayed great maturity alongside Dean Elgar, adding 196 runs for the opening wicket. After lunch the-23-year-old opened up following his 50 off 77 balls, blasting 10 of his 13 boundaries, before being run-out on 97 off 152 balls.
