New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and spinner Akila Dananjaya have both been reported for suspect bowling action, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced today.

Match officials cited concerns about the actions of both bowlers during last week’s Galle Test. New Zealand skipper Williamson bowled just three overs in the match, but Dananjaya’s bowling performance was key in the six-wicket Sri Lanka win, as he took a five-for in the first innings.

Williamson was also reported for suspect bowling action back in 2014 and was subsequently banned from bowling from international cricket before he was cleared later that year. Dananjaya too was reported back in 2018 and suspended in December last year before he was cleared in February this year.

Williamson and Dananjaya will now undergo testing within 14 days from the reporting date (18 August), and, during this period both will be permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.
