Another contingent of Bangladesh players left the country today for the tour of West Indies and with the Test assignments first up in the Caribbean, spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz was hopeful of turning things around after some recent dismal results in Tests.

Mominul Haque had to give way to Shakib Al Hasan to lead the Test side and the last time that Bangladesh toured the West Indies, Shakib had been the Test captain. Bangladesh lost the first Test at Antigua by an innings and 219 runs which included their lowest Test score till date of 43. Then they fell to a 166-run defeat in the second Test at Jamaica.

The Mount Maunganui Test win in New Zealand was however giving Miraz hope.

"We haven't been able to do well recently but we can turn it around. We have done it in New Zealand so it's not like we can't do it. We are going through a bad time and the players are looking to turn things around," Miraz said while talking to the media at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today.

Although Bangladesh lost the Test series in West Indies last time, they were able to win both the ODI and T20I series. "That series was fun. We are going there after four years and this time we will try to play good cricket. We can make a comeback," he added.

Miraz also said that he has recovered well from his injury after missing out the home Test series against Sri Lanka. The Bangladesh team will begin their practice session from June 8th at Antigua with the coaching staff and others set to join the team by June 7.
