Pacer Taskin Ahmed said that if Bangladesh are able to play their best cricket, it won't be impossible for them to clinch the Asia Cup.

Bangladesh reached the final of the Asia Cup on three occasions but were never able to lift the trophy. However, Taskin is confident of doing well, keeping the upcoming ODI World Cup in sight.

"Our main aim is to play the final of the Asia Cup as the teams' achievement is the biggest achievement. I will be personally very happy if we can reach the final and could able to play as a team. Please everyone pray for us. Obviously we wish to become the champion but the main thing is to play better cricket since we have the World Cup coming shortly. If we can play our best cricket its possible to become the champion," Taskin told the media at the airport today.

The Tigers left Dhaka at 12.55pm.

Meanwhile opening batter Liton Das will not be part of the Bangladesh contingent that flies to Sri Lanka today due to fever, confirmed Bangladesh Cricket Board's Cricket Operations committee chairman Jalal Younus.

Young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib also set to miss the flight. The right-arm pacer, who was a last minute inclusion as replacement for injured Ebadot Hossain, will travel by a later flight since his ticket has not yet been confirmed.

Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in their opening game of the Asia Cup on August 31 at Pallekele.
