Bangladesh suffered a double blow ahead of their ODI series against India as skipper Tamim Iqbal was ruled out by a groin injury, starting on Sunday, owing to a groin injury, while speedster Taskin Ahmed has been sidelined for the opener due to a recurring back problem, the BCB announced in a media release.

Who will take the reins as skipper is yet to be decided.

"Tamim has a Grade 1 strain in his right groin area, which was confirmed by an MRI. We will maintain a conservative treatment protocol for two weeks after which his rehab will begin. Unfortunately, this means he will not be available for the ODI series and is doubtful for the Test series," national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said.

The press release added that Shoriful Islam would replace Taskin for the first game.

Tamim suffered his groin injury while playing in a warm-up match on Wednesday, while Taskin pulled out from a Bangladesh Cricket League match on November 20.
