Sahin takes maiden fifer

Pacer Sahin Alam's five-wicket haul helped Bangladesh under-19 make a good start on the first day of their second youth Test against Sri Lanka under-19 at Katunayake, yesterday.

The 17-year-old conceded just 37 runs in 14 overs as he registered his maiden five-wicket haul. Sri Lanka ended the day on 219 for 9.

After electing to bat, Sri Lanka lost the first wicket of the day without adding a run on the board and struggled throughout the innings with opener Navod Paranavithana top scoring with 79.

Top order batsman Kamil Mishara added 52 runs while none of the other Sri Lankan batsmen were able to score significantly.

Apart from Sahin's five-for, another pacer Mrittunjoy Chowdhury took two wickets for Bangladesh.
