PCB delays camp and squad announcement for Afghan ODIs: report

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly delayed its scheduled training camp and the announcement of the Pakistan squad for their upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, to be played in Sri Lanka next month.

The Pakistan cricket team were supposed to start their training from today in Lahore but with the recent crisis in Afghanistan due to the Taliban take over, the PCB is waiting for Afghanistan Cricket Board's (ACB) confirmation about the series.

According to a report by PTI, the ACB is yet to confirm when its players will leave Kabul for Colombo and the schedule of the matches.

"Once they give us the complete travel plans and itinerary we will have the camp and also release our squad," a PCB source was quoted as saying in the report by PTI.

The report also mentioned that the ACB is in talks with the Taliban authorities and U.S. troops which are controlling all flights in and out of the Kabul airport.

Meanwhile, ACB CEO Hamid Shinwari was quoted as saying to AFP that the Afghan national cricket team were feeling "spirited" after resuming training in the capital this week ahead of their series against Pakistan.

The series that is scheduled to start on September 3 was shifted to Sri Lanka from the United Arab Emirates -- where Afghanistan play their home matches -- as the stadiums in the UAE were instead being prepared to host the Indian Premier League.
