Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) could not find any replacements for selectors Minhajul Abedin and Habibul Bashar, and hence, the tenure of the selection panel including the two former Bangladesh skippers along with the other selector Abdur Razzak is set to be extended till the 2023 World Cup.

"The selection panel of the national team was one of the agendas in the board meeting. We have asked the cricket operations committee to propose new names for the selection panel but they could not find any new names for the jobs," informed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon after board meeting today.

"Cricket operations committee proposed extending the current selection panel till the next year's ODI World Cup. What we have decided is to add two more selectors as we need them to look into age-group cricket as well," he added.

The contract of chief selector Minhajul Abedin and selector Habibul Bashar expired on December 31, 2021.

Minhajul has been on the selection panel since 2011 but was appointed as the chief selector in 2016. Bashar also joined the selection panel in 2016.
