Local cricketer Chandan passes away

A popular cricketer of Mymensingh region Chandan Kumar Pal died of a brain stroke at the National Institute of Neurosciences and  Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday night. He was 53.

He left behind his wife, a son, mother and a host of relatives, admirers, fellow cricketers and disciples to mourn his death. 

Chandan suffered a brain stroke last week and was admitted to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) from where he was referred to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka. 

An all-rounder, Chandan started his cricket career with the local Country Cricket Club and he later played for different reputed clubs in Mymensingh and Dhaka. 

A member of Mymensingh Masters Cricket Association, Chandan was also a reputed coach, cricket organizer and a top-level umpire in Mymensingh.

"Though he was in serious financial crisis amid coronavirus pandemic, but he never left Robi-Chand Cricket Academy, which was founded by him," said Md Jahirul Hasan, ex-joint-secretary of Mymensingh District Sports Association.
