Liton feels for Ireland

Bangladesh batsman and Test vice-captain Liton Das was 'feeling' for Ireland after the Irish side lost the third ODI against New Zealand by just one run in a scintillating match.

New Zealand posted a massive total of 360 for six in fifty overs but Ireland almost clinched the game as they produced a brilliant chase with tons from Paul Stirling and Harry Tector. The chase went right down to the wire and needing 10 off the last over, Ireland got to striking distance with one wicket left on the last ball and three runs required. Blair Tickner held his nerves in the last ball as Ireland could only manage one run in the final delivery to lose by one run.

The Irish team have lost three of their last four matches by incredibly tight margins. They lost to India in the second T20I on June 28th by just four runs. Coming into the ODI series against New Zealand at home, they lost the first ODI by just one wicket as New Zealand chased down Ireland's 300 for 9 in the last delivery thanks to a six from Michael Bracewell.

Having lost the second ODI by three wickets, Ireland once again got close yesterday but New Zealand held on to seize the series 3-0.

Liton felt for the Irish side but congratulated New Zealand on the win.

"Feeling for Ireland! Congratulations to New Zeland," Liton posted on his Facebook yesterday.

Just like many neutral supporters, Liton was perhaps rooting for Ireland while watching on from the West Indies. Liton would however have to gear up for the third ODI against the West Indies at Guyana today and ensure that Tigers make it 3-0, having won the first two ODIs against the Windies to clinch the series.
