India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli was reprimanded for breaching the Indian Premier League's (IPL) code of conduct during their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, the IPL mentioned in a statement.

"Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been reprimanded for breaching the VIVO Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Mr Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the statement read.

Kohli, who was dismissed for 33 off 29 deliveries, smashed an advertising cushion on the boundary on his way out of the field before taking his frustration out on a chair -- Kohli hit it with his bat -- in the team's dugout.

The RCB skipper admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 which relates to "Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match".

Kohli, however, was not fined any amount of match fee for his behaviour.

Kohli's Bangalore ended up winning another nail-biting contest as they beat Sunrisers by six runs.
