Bangladesh will be favorites against Sri Lanka: Mosaddek

Mosaddek Hossain

Bangladesh all rounder Mosaddek Hossain talked to the reporters in Mirpur today after their second practice session ahead of their series against Sri Lanka, starting from July 26. Even after Tigers' disappointing finish in the World Cup -- having finished eighth in the table -- Mosaddek considered Bangladesh as favorites in the series.

"If you see, we are in a very good position considering both batting and bowling and additionally if you are counting experience then we are in a strong position. I think that, we always have the upper hand over other teams in these sectors. Compared to other teams in the world, we have the most number of experienced players. So, I think we are way ahead in this sector. If you see from all aspects, from the experience, we will be the favorites," said the 23-year old batting all rounder.

Bangladesh will be missing the likes of Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das in the upcoming series. But Mosaddek was still confident regarding Tigers' chances against the Islanders.

"Even though we don't have Shakib bhai and Liton, the players who replaced them in the squad are also performers. They have been performing in the domestic circuit. Additionally, [Anamul Haque] Bijoy scored a century a few days ago in the domestic league and Taijul [Islam] has been scalping wickets every day. When they will play international cricket, we will know their conditions. So, as a team I think we are a very balanced side." said Mosaddek.

The Tiger's World Cup campaign did not go according to plan but Mosaddek and the team do not pay too much heed to it as the team looked to do better in the upcoming series.

"From my side, I would say we had a very average world cup. If we think too much then it's a lot but a World Cup is not everything. We have to play cricket at the end of the day. A World Cup is not the end of the World. As a result, I don't think we have the time to think too much about the World Cup.  We are hoping for a good series In Shaa Allah. " concluded the all rounder.
