Australia expressed satisfaction over BCB’s arrangements: BCB CEO

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) went a few extra miles in hosting Australia for a five-match T20I series this month and the country's cricket governing body said that its Australian counterpart has expressed satisfaction over arrangements made during a 13-day sojourn of the Aussies.

"Of course, they have expressed enough satisfaction," said BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury to the media today.

"I think what they [Australia] got was more than what they expected. They did not expect so much; that we can create such a security system or a bio-bubble environment or that we can fulfill everything according to their needs," Nizamuddin added.

Not only BCB but also the Bangladesh players exceeded expectations as they outplayed Australia and won the first-ever bilateral series played between the two sides by 4-1.

A dominating Bangladesh bagged the five-match T20I series with three wins on the trot before falling to a narrow three-wicket defeat in the fourth T20I. The clinical Tigers, however, wrapped up the series in style -- bundling out Australia for their lowest ever T20I score and winning the final game by a thumping 60-run margin.

Following a successful series both on and off-field, BCB is now focusing on making arrangements for hosting New Zealand for another five-match T20I series next month.

However, BCB CEO mentioned that arrangements for the New Zealand series will see at least one change than the arrangements made for the Aussies. A special immigration process was made for the Australian contingent but that won't be the case for New Zealand's touring party.

"There will be change in one aspect [of the arrangements]. Australia arrived on a chartered flight. They did not use commercial flights or regular flights. That's why they wanted to come to the hotel directly from the airport with minimal human contact.

"This will not apply to those coming from New Zealand on a commercial flight. However, we will try to bring them to the hotel exposing them to minimum public contact," added Nizamuddin.

Having already successfully hosted West Indies, Sri Lanka and Australia since cricket resumed in the country after the pandemic, the BCB remains confident in hosting New Zealand without any hitches as well.

Just like the Australia series, T20Is against New Zealand are also supposed to be a part of the Tigers' preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE in October-November this year. And the BCB also informed that it is also contemplating arranging a pre-camp for the Tigers in Oman ahead of the showpiece event.
