Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman seems destined to go under the knife to correct his shoulder problems that flared up during his stint with Sussex over the last week, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) informed this evening.

Earlier today, the 20-year-old -- still in England -- underwent an MRI arthrogram, a special examination to determine the severity of the pacer’s SLAP tear in his left shoulder, and the results showed a Grade 2 injury.

He consulted with orthopaedics surgeon Professor Tony Kochhar, who chairs the Sports Science department at the University of Greenwich, and according to the BCB the surgeon suspected that surgery was needed to correct the problem.

"I have not yet seen the details of the report, but as far as I know a grade 2 injury requires surgical solution," said the BCB's physician Debashish Chowdhury.
