Mushfiqur retained as captain

There was plenty of talk about Mushfiqur Rahim's captaincy following Bangladesh's win in the second Test against England. There were, at first, whispers about how the team management had supposedly asked Tamim Iqbal to lead the team after tea on day three, since he was reportedly more accessible to receive the management's instructions.

Mushfiqur himself though, through an interview after the game said that the different senior players were given different responsibilities during the team talk at the tea break. Tamim, according to him, was given the responsibility to talk to the bowlers since he fielded in the mid-on, mid-off region.

However, all those assumptions surrounding this issue can now be laid to rest since the board, in its meeting yesterday, decided to retain the current captains and vice-captains for the New Zealand series set to start in late December this year.

There has however been a change in the leadership in the women's national cricket team. The reins have been shifted from Jahanara Alam to Rumana Ahmad.

The BCB has also decided to pay Tk 1 crore each to the Bangladesh Hockey Federation and Bangladesh Swimming Federation.

In addition, the board has also approved to form eight regional cricket associations which are expected to begin operation within the next three months.

The BPL's worldwide media rights has been awarded to Impress Matra Consortium for three years from 2017 onwards.

BCB will work on developing the grounds at Jahangirnagar University and the BTCL field at Mohakhali.
