Mushfiqur’s day to touch 200 milestone in Test

Today is the day that Bangladesh cricket saw the highest individual innings by a batsman in 2013.

The historic moment came through the passionate batting of the Tigers Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim who became the first Bangladesh batsman to score a double century at Galle in Sri Lanka.

Mushfiqur achieved what Mohammad Ashraful failed to do and the feat by a captain made this achievement all the more special.

This is how it went in 2013: Even after Ashraful's dismissal at 190, Mushfiqur held concentration which never wavered.

Mushfiqur established the highest individual score by a Bangladeshi batsman in the process in a patient knock in the scorching heat of Galle. His stand lasted for seven-and-half hours.

The record partnership between him and Ashraful laid the foundation for the massive total, the second highest on Sri Lankan soil by a visiting team. Their stand was the best partnership for Bangladesh for any wicket against any opposition.

Based on the brilliant batting display by Tigers, Bangladesh cricket team brought a historic end to draw the Galle Test by scoring a mammoth 638 in reply to 570 by Sri Lanka.
