Masakadza ton drives Zim

Hamilton Masakadza hit his fifth Test century as Zimbabwe reached 169 for four on a rain-hit first day of the second Test against the West Indies on Sunday.

Masakadza was unbeaten on 101 when rain wiped out most of the final session at Queens Sports Club, having helped Zimbabwe recover from a disastrous first hour when they fell to 14 for three.

The opening batsman shared a crucial 142-run partnership with Peter Moor for the fourth wicket after Solomon Mire, Craig Ervine and Brendan Taylor fell to West Indies fast bowlers Shannon Gabriel and Kemar Roach.

Zimbabwe, who were hampered by the unavailability of the sick Sean Williams and injured Kyle Jarvis as they looked to earn a share of the two-match series, won the toss and elected to bat first on a dry pitch.
