Abahani thrash Mohammedan

Abahani Limited vs Mohammedan Sporting Club

Abahani Limited led by Tamim Iqbal took Mushfiqur Rahim’s Mohammedan Sporting Club to school and thumped the Motijheel-based team by whopping 260-runs at BKSP today.

Chasing 372 for victory, Mohammedan were never in contention after they were reduced to 6-92 inside 19 overs. Abahani bowlers were relentless and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Shakib Al Hasan followed up his cameo with the bat with an imperious performance with the ball, and took his best bowling figures in List A cricket with five wickets for 18 runs in 6.3 overs. He polished off the Mohammedan lower order so his teammates could head for an early shower.

Earlier, Abahani Limited amassed 371 for 5 in 50 overs riding on centuries from Liton Das and Dinesh Karthik respectively. Mohammedan skipper won the toss and opted to field first. The 3rd wicket stand of 162 runs in 25 overs, followed by the 4th wicket partnership of 101 runs in 8.4 overs took the game away from Mushy’s team.

Liton notched up his highest score in List A cricket with 139 runs today. He faced 125 balls and smashed 18 fours and a huge six in his scintillating knock. Abahani’s Indian recruit Dinesh Karthik made merry on the flat track at BKSP, and muscled his way to 109 from 97 balls. He struck 11 fours and four sixes to the delight of his teammates. Shakib provided the finishing touch with his cameo of 54 from 24 balls.

For Mohammedan, four bowlers were among the wickets, with Ariful Haque picking up two for 55 in his five overs. Thisara Perera, Naeem Islam and Enamul Haque jnr took a wicket each.

Victoria Sporting Club v Legends of Rupganj

Legends of Rupganj led by Asif Ahmed managed to overcome Victoria Sporting Club by two wickets at Fatullah today.

The target of 259 runs was reached in 48.5 overs for the loss of eight wickets primarily because Rupganj’s Indian recruit Pawan Negi held one end secured with his unbeaten 124 from 89 balls. Negi smoked 13 fours and four sixes in his match-winning knock.

Chaturanga de Silva was the best bowler on show for Victoria. He took five wickets for 46 runs in 9.5 overs.

Victoria Sporting Club led by Nadif Chowdhury were invited to bat first by Legends of Rupganj skipper Asif Ahmed. 82 from Mominul Haque and Al-Amin’s 63 helped Victoria reach 258 in 50 overs.

Mominul followed up his 73 against Gazi Group and 55 against Prime Bank with 82 from 72 balls today. He smashed eight fours and two sixes in his pacy innings. Al-Amin gave the impetus with 63 from 68 for Victoria.

Taijul Islam was the most successful bowler for Rupganj, as he took 3-47 in nine overs. Abu Hider and Pawan Negi contributed with two scalps each.

Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club v Prime Bank Cricket Club

The rain affected match at Mirpur saw Prime Bank Cricket Club pip Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club by six wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

The revised target for Prime Bank was 118 from 33 overs. They reached their objective thanks to an unbeaten 43 from Unmukt Chand. He faced 61 deliveries and smashed three fours and two sixes to take his side home.

The match between Prime Sporting Club and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur was stopped after 33 overs into Prime DSC’s innings due to rain.

Prime DSC were asked to bat first, and were struggling at 6-83 inside 28 overs. When their score reached 100, the clouds broke free and the umpires decided to halt play. Nasir Hossain was batting at the crease with 30 to his name while Ziaur Rahman was not out at seven.

Rubel Hossain took two wickets to rattle Prime DSC early. Shuvagata, Monir and Nazmul took a wicket each.
