Female cricketer held with 14,000 yaba

Police arrested a female cricketer in possession of 14,000 yaba pills from Shah Amanat Bridge Golchattar area under Bakalia Police Station in Chittagong today.

According to police, the arrestee, Naznin Khan Mukta, is a 23-year-old who hails from Trishal of Mymensingh.

“She is a cricketer who plays for Ansar team in the Dhaka Premier League (Women's Cricket League) and is also a drop-out of Jagannath University's (JnU) sociology department,” Pranab Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakalia Police Station told The Daily Star.

Pranab informed that upon receiving secret information, police searched a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Green Line which was coming from Cox’s Bazar and detained the female at around 5:00am this morning.

After searching her luggage, police seized 14,000 yaba pills from her possession. The OC informed that one Mohammad Nahid used to supply contraband items to the cricketer after which she used to hand over the items to an associate named Ripon.
