Fans unite for Nasir

Cricket fans have extended their support to Bangladesh allrounder Nasir Hossain over bullying on popular social media platform Facebook.

The cricketer had to delete a post containing a photo with his younger sister after being annoyed by “bad comments”.

After deleting his post Nasir writes on Saturday: “Dear fans, I really get hurt by your comments. I posted this pic on request of my younger sister; many of you put bad comments on it. And some of them made fun posts with it. I have removed the picture. Are you happy now? I do not need fans like you. Whoever do not like me, please don’t follow me and put comments in my picture.Thank you!”

The allrounder posted a selfie on Facebook with his younger sister while travelling on a flight to Sayedpur from Dhaka after winning the one day international series against India.

In over 15,000 comments on his Saturday post and liked by over one lakh followers, thousands of fans expressed their solidarity against the harassing comments.

In a comment a fan try to boost the sportsmanship in Nasir by praising him as “finisher Nasir” and tell him to contain his anger to perform better against the upcoming series against South Africa.

The fans’ involvement in the support was so overwhelming that even this single reply got 5,678 likes by other fans. This post was even shared by over five thousand times.

Many of them think that those who bullied him over his photo with his sister did it out of sheer ignorance of the matter and the social media platform itself.

Another fan tried to console the cricketer by saying that even the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was not spared from harassing comments when he posted a photo with his wife.

Telling him that his fans still love him very much and they are always on his side, many Facebook users advise him to ignore the bad comments, delete, report and block those users.

Hundreds of the fans apologised over the matter and praised him for his following post after deleting the photo: “Brother I salute you for this post… and for making them (bullying people) understand that you are also a human being and also have feelings."
